OOTS Notes:

Summer is almost over

Congratulations to Tampa Bay Vettes. For the second year in a row the club was picked in the drawing for the 2008 Club Banner Promotion at The National Corvette Museum. The banners will be officially displayed as part of their 14th Anniversary Corvette Celebration on August 28th to the 30th. Hopefully some club members can join the NCM for the event. The club banner will remain up outside in front of the NCM for 1 year. I feel it is a great honor to fly the club’s logo and colors in front of the museum for the year. Hopefully we will get picked again next year.

Summer is almost over and the Tampa Bay Rays are in first place ahead of Boston and the NY Yankees. Who would have thought! As far as upcoming August events; Gators Café on Treasure Island is doing a car show on August 23 from 4 p.m. to 7:30, entry fee is $20.00 night of the show. Last month a few a TBV’s finest went to the show and had a great time. And they all took home trophies. Another must show is Corvettes at the Pier in St. Pete. On August 30th.  Great setting and always a fun show. Also not to forget August 31st, Monthly Tampa Bay Vettes breakfast cruise. Homecomings are just around the corner. So start looking out for the e-mails. Sign up and help out to give the high school kids a homecoming they won’t forget. After the homecoming there is always dinner. What would be a TBV outing without food involved. Check out the rest of the TBV Events calendar in the Newsletter and online.

This month’s dinner after the regular monthly meeting is back at the Hilton Garden Inn in Tampa. Easy parking, no long waits to get served, great service, great food and stay as long as you want and most important eat as much as you want. They are welcoming us back with an All you can eat Italian Feast. Buffet consist of two of Chef’s famous soups, Chicken parmesan, Shrimp Fettuccini, Chicken Marsala, mixed vegetables, desserts, rolls, salad and more. All for $10.95 plus tax & tip per person. Drinks are at a club discount.  How can you beat that? It cost more to eat at Mickey D’s. So far I got a good response from the members. About 35 RSVP’d their coming. It looks like we might be dining there more often after a meeting and having a different theme menu each month. And for those that didn’t response, all as I can say is; you don’t know what you are going to miss.

Also another very successful breakfast cruise has found its way into the Tampa Bay Vettes history book. July breakfast cruise was being headed up by Sue & Russell Ingold. This was the first time they put together a cruise.  And they did a great job. Or should I say Sue did a great job. I’m sure Sue did everything – my friend Russ was just along for the ride. They took us to Davis Island to Jacksons for a breakfast/lunch brunch. Great food and lots of it. We ended up with about 40 cars from Tampa Bay Vettes and our friends from Skyway Corvettes. The Skyway folks like to refer to themselves as Tampa Bay Vettes South.

Next breakfast cruise is being headed up by Connie & Keith Cade. Don’t be left behind. Come along for the ride on August 31st. We meet behind Hooters on Adamo Drive just west of I-75 at 8:30. Don’t forget we leave 9:00 o’clock sharp.

If anyone has any idea of a social event show that would be of interest to the club, please let me know. Also if anyone has an idea of a social event, car show, charitable event or anything that they feel would be fun in doing and they would like to organize please e-mail me at oots@aol.com

Remember, our goal is to have FUN!!!! Lets all work together to achieve this.

Thank you again for all your help and support.
